Masonry Repairs

Our techs have received training masonry work and are capable of performing masonry repairs such as custom poured crowns, veneer stone, re-pointing, firebox rebuilds, smoke chamber parging and more!

Custom Poured Crowns: Here is a freshly poured concrete crown. We reinforce all of our crowns with glass fibers and build in a drip edge and slope to get water off of the chimney. Our concrete is also mixed with a powdered water repellent to help prevent water absorption into the crown.
Smoke Chamber Parging: The area directly above the firebox in a masonry fireplace is often incorrectly built, and incapable of containing creosote, gasses and heat properly. Here is a side-by-side photo of the before and after. You can see how smoothly the smoke will exit the area in addition to be heat resistant now.
This photo shows weak mortar joints that are in need of repair. Left untreated, weak mortar joints can compromise the structural integrity of a chimney.
Tuck Pointing Mortar Joints : Sometimes, if the deterioration is not too severe, mortar joints can be redone. This process – as Russell is demonstrating in this photo – consists of grinding out the soft, old mortar and placing new, better mortar in place. This can greatly extend the life of the chimney.

Veneer Stone: This stone was put on at the same time as the new fireplace and mantel.
Vent-Free Fireplace: Before we started, all that was here was a wall!
